What Is Ashtanga? Foundations & Building Your Self-Practice

Sunday 8th February
1-3pm
Oru Space Sutton

Description

Introduction to Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga - the origin of the practice, including the Eight-limbed path.

We’ll look into the structure of the system; how it is practiced, and what methods are used.

Why discipline and consistency are so important, and how we can build upon them through intention.

All students, including those completely new to the practice, will come away with a short sequence that they’ll begin to memorise and build upon with time.

The Primary Series sequence will be discussed; the purpose, benefit and different ways it can be approached in both a home/yoga class setting.

All students will be guided through a modified version of the first series, and have variations available to how they can adjust further if they choose to continue their yoga journey at home.

We’ll explore how to maintain a consistent routine at home, and what modification actually means for us all individually.

There’ll be time for Q&A and discussion, as well as printouts to support you on your yoga journey.

Suitable for beginners to those who are currently practising but wish to deepen their personal practice and engage in conversation.

I'm a yoga teacher with over 10 years of experience guiding students through a variety of styles, from dynamic flows to grounding practices.

My passion lies in helping students build strong foundations, both physically and mentally, through safe posture alignment, mindful movement, patience, and resilience.
